'TIME TO DIE'

Queensland bodies-in-the-box murder accused confesses to hearing screams as body was thrown over dam

The mum and young dad had been abducted, beaten, tied up and locked in the toolbox before they died

A MURDER suspect heard screaming as a locked box containing the bodies of a mum and young dad as they were chucked over a dam to their deaths.

Corey Bretton, 28, and Iuliana Triscaru, 31, were allegedly lured to an industrial unit before being beaten, tied up and locked inside the metal toolbox.

Their bodies were discovered in a Queensland dam in February - 18 days after they had first vanished, reported.

Brisbane Supreme Court heard how Tuhirangi-Thomas Tahiata, 25, one of seven men charged with murder, confessed to hearing kicking and screaming as the box was thrown into the water.

The suspect allegedly loaded the box with the victims inside and drove it to the dam, while co-accused Trent Michael Thrupp punched holes in it with a claw hammer to help it sink.

The screams got louder as they pushed the box into the water and Mr Thrupp yelled “time to die”, Tahiata reportedly told officers.

The court heard they then went back to the dam days later and used rocks to sink the box after they found it floating on the surface.

Tahiata was refused bail by Justice Peter Flanagan after the court heard evidence of his alleged confession to police.

The defence said he had no previous convictions and his family had offered a £30,000 surety.

Tepuna Tupuna Mariri, Webbstar Latu, Stou Daniels, Davy Malu Junior Taiao and Ngatokoona Mareiti are also charged with murder.

Dad-of-one Cory went missing on January 21, while Iuliana was last seen on January 24.

Cops scoured the area in Queensland for just over two weeks before they found the metal tool box containing the pair's remains.
