Nightlife capital of Britain revealed – where does your city rank?
NEWCASTLE has been crowned the nightlife capital of Britain — with London languishing in bottom spot.
It came out top in a survey of 2,000 party lovers, asked about the main factors that made for a great night out.
These included the number of pubs and clubs, the cost of a round, how safe it was, and how friendly locals were.
Cities were awarded a score out of ten, with Newcastle getting 8.2 and London a measly 1.7.
Other highly rated cities included York (8.1), Edinburgh (7.6), Norwich (7.5) and Cambridge (7.3).
A spokesman for Get Licensed, which carried out the study, said: “We wanted to settle the argument about which is the best city for nightlife.

“London’s poor score was partly due to drink.
“An average round for four in the capital came to an eye-watering £27.30.”
