US photo agency refuses to hand over pics of Harry & Meghan because America beat King George III in a war 250 years ago
A US photo agency refuses to hand over pics of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex taken during a car chase — because America beat King George III in a war 250 years ago.
Prince Harry, 38, and his wife Meghan, 41, claim they were aggressively followed by photographers in New York earlier this week and demanded to be given all the pics taken.
But Backgrid USA refused, joking that Americans had long ago rejected royal prerogative.
The agency told the couple’s lawyers: “In America, as I’m sure you know, property belongs to the owner of it: Third parties cannot just demand it be given to them, as perhaps kings can do.
“Perhaps you should sit down with your client and advise them that his English rules of royal prerogative to demand that the citizenry hand over their property to the Crown were rejected by this country long ago.
“We stand by our Founding Fathers.”

Harry claims he, Meghan and her mum Doria Ragland, 66, were involved in a “near catastrophic car chase” with paparazzi after an awards ceremony on Tuesday.
The California-based agency denies they were ever in danger.

Samantha Markle, 58, slammed her for driving a wedge between Harry and his relatives.
Meghan is accused of dividing the Markle clan as well. Samantha’s lawsuit in Florida claims the duchess defamed her in her Oprah interview and Netflix series.
Meghan, who won a previous case Samantha brought, is alleged to have made her out to be a “villainous opportunist“ and a racist.
