A NURSE accused of killing seven babies said a “gang of four” doctors had blamed her to cover up hospital failings.
Lucy Letby said two in particular tried to get her removed from the neo-natal unit at the Countess of Chester Hospital.
She named them as paediatric consultant Stephen Brearey and TV doctor Ravi Jayaram.
She said they were joined in a “conspiracy” by John Gibbs and a woman who can’t be named for legal reasons.
Letby told the jury at Manchester crown court: “They had been making comments that I was responsible for the deaths of babies and they were very insistent that I was removed from the unit.”
Asked why, she said: “I believe to cover up failings at the hospital.”
