UK weather forecast today: Britain to be hotter than Barcelona this week – before three-week warm spell
THE UK is on track to be hotter than Barcelona this week, ahead of a three-week warm spell.
Forecasters say we'll see higher than average temperatures towards the end of the week.
The Met Office's week ahead prediction is that areas around London will reach 20 degrees on Thursday and 21 degrees on Friday.
That's hotter than Barcelona - where temperatures are set to drop on Friday to around 19 degrees.
Weather forecaster Alex Deakin said: "We are seeing at this stage 20 perhaps 21 in the South."
The long-range forecast says a “high-pressure ridge is most likely to extend across the UK, resulting in a good amount of fine and dry weather for most.

"Further into next week a continuation of these settled conditions is expected, with fine and dry weather for most.
"Temperatures will most likely above average overall."
Before this though, we'll have to get through some chilly weather - with frost on the ground this morning.
Temperatures are set to be around 11 degrees across the UK.

Tomorrow forecasters say there may be showers in the southeast, but it should feel "pleasant in the sunshine".
Temperatures will start to rise around the end of the week, before heading into a three-week warm spell.
As we head into June, the Met Office predicts "an increased likelihood of above average temperatures for many".
Alex Deakin said: "It's going to be a largely dry week across the country and slowly temperatures will be rising just a little bit as well."
"For the majority, high pressure bringing a largely dry week and temperatures just ticking up a little bit as well.
"It will go from below average to around or perhaps slightly above average temperature wise as we head towards the weekend."
