She also said she would never feed raw animal to her pets.

The vet also stressed no-one should buy flat-faced dogs, and urged against adopting pets from abroad.

In a recent clip posted on TikTok, the veterinary surgeon said: "Five things, as a vet, I would never do, the spicy edition.

"And I say that because there are going to be some things in this TikTok some of you don't agree with and that's absolutely fine. You're allowed your opinion, just as I'm allowed mine."

The social media star said she would never rely on homoeopathy or other pseudo-scientific treatments for her pets.

She explained: "To impose those values on our animals who are not able to make that choice for themselves, in my opinion, is completely unethical.

The vet also said she would never choose raw feeding for her pets.

She said: "There are no proven benefits and plenty of proven risks."

Cat the Vet shared that she would never own flat-faced pets because "they suffer massively for their looks".

Her fourth piece of advice was to never adopt a dog from abroad.

She said: "I do believe these dogs should have a great life and we should care for them, and I know that some adoptions can be successful, but I see far more that are problematic."

Finally, the veterinary surgeon said she would never choose natural treatments for her pets over proven medical therapy.

"Natural does not equal better or safer.

"If I thought that my pet was in pain or suffering or had some sort of health problem, I would always rely on a proven medical treatment that is very safe and very effective."

She claimed: "Natural therapies are not something to be relied upon on their own."

TikTok users were divided in opinion over the surgeon's advice.

While another said: "I gave my cat a raw diet for 12 years, and she was healthy till the day she died at 17.

"Her coat was shiny and her stool was odourless."

However, other people agreed with the social media star.

Another said: "Rescuing from abroad has to be done the right way.

"I’m a lone rescuer and I am damn careful about the people who take my dogs."
