Full list of school closures as teacher strike causes chaos TODAY– is your child’s school affected?
THOUSANDS of kids across the UK will stay at home today as teacher strikes close schools.
The walkout - the first of five this summer - has been masterminded by the National Education Union (NEU) amid a row over pay.
Thousands of parents have been forced to take the day off work as the industrial action triggers chaos.
Teachers will also walk out on May 2 followed by a three-day strike from late June to early July.
These walkouts threaten to plunge GCSE and A-Level students - due to sit exams in May and June - into chaos.
Meanwhile, most schools were closed yesterday in Northern Ireland as all five teaching unions, including heads from the NAHT, took part.

Only schools in England and Northern Ireland are effected by the strikes.
Dr Mary Bousted, joint general secretary of the NEU, said in a statement: "What is highly disruptive will become extremely disruptive.
"It is only going to be worse."
A one-off £1,000 Government payment for this school year and an average 4.5 per cent rise for staff next year was blasted "insulting" and rejected by the NEU, ASCL, NASUWT and NAHT.

It comes as the schools’ watchdog chief said this week's strikes risk harming pupils’ education.
Ofsted boss Amanda Spielman told Sunday with Laura Kuenssberg: “Well, of course. Children have missed a great deal over the last few years.
“It is so important that their education continues and is interrupted as little as it possibly can be.
"I hope the disputes can be resolved rapidly and constructively because we know that children need to be at school.”
Last week, the Association of School and College Leaders (ASCL) said it will hold a formal ballot for national strike action in England for the first time in its history.
If successful, coordinated strike action between teachers and heads could result in the biggest series of strikes on record.
A Department for Education spokesman (DfE) said: "Any strike action is hugely damaging.
"We have made a fair and reasonable pay offer to teachers recognising their hard work and commitment.
"Thanks to the further £2 billion pounds we are investing in our schools, next year, school funding will be at its highest level in history."
