Sister’s heartbreaking tribute to Wayne Stevens, 51, mauled to death by ‘out-of-control’ dog as his brother is charged

THE sister of a man killed after being mauled by an "out-of-control" dog says "it feels like we're in a nightmare".

Wayne Stevens, 51, died following the attack inside a Derby home on Saturday - with his brother Gary Stevens now charged.

Cops charged to the property in Normanton where the beast was shot dead but tragically Wayne could not be saved.

Gary Stevens, who police have confirmed is the brother of the victim, was arrested in connection with the incident.

He has now been charged for being responsible for a dog dangerously out of control that later caused injury resulting in death.

Paying tribute to her brother, broken Julie Stevens said: "Still can’t believe it.

"It feels like we’re in a nightmare can’t get my head round any of this RIP Wayne we will always love you brother."

She previously shared a photo of Wayne who was nicknamed 'Trend'.

She wrote on Facebook: "R.I.P to our dear brother Wayne aka trend I can’t believe it still in shock to hear the news you’ve really gone...

"Why can’t it just be a dream that we can wake up from we will love you always bro and you will forever be missed fly high in paradise until we meet again."

Meanwhile Wayne's brother Scott Stevens said he "can't explain the pain" in his tribute.

He wrote on Facebook: "R.I.P big brother Wayne Stevens words can't explain the pain fam it's was only 4 days since we had a beer...

"Love you so much I hope you meet dad in heaven and work your problems out cuz your neighbors for eternity now so make peace."

In a statement, Derbyshire Police said: "Formal identification has taken place, and the victim has been named as 51-year-old Wayne Stevens.

"Wayne sadly died after suffering injuries from a dog attack.

"Our thoughts remain with his family and friends at this time."

Gary Stevens is set to appear at Southern Derbyshire Magistrates Court on Monday.
