Blackpool Zoo wants ‘friendly and energetic’ recruit to join its team – but there’s a catch
BLACKPOOL Zoo wants a "friendly and energetic" recruit to join its team - but there's a catch.
The seaside zoo is hiring a "team of people" to tackle an airborne menace, all of whom will have to wear an eye-catching costume.
It is advertising for a "Seagull Deterrent/Visitor Services Assistant" who will dress in an inflatable eagle costume to deter the winged nuisances.
The successful candidate will "need to be comfortable wearing a bird costume".
Blackpool Zoo said: "It goes without saying that we love all animals.
"And as a seaside resort, Blackpool is not short of seagulls.

"However, the seagulls are proving to be a bit of a nuisance when it comes to trying to steal food from our visitors and our animal enclosures.
"We need to do what we can to keep the seagulls away from our main visitor dining areas, which is why we are looking for a team of people to join our Visitor Services team as ‘Seagull Deterrents'.

"We are looking for people who are visitor-focused, friendly, energetic, flexible and outgoing - as you need to be comfortable wearing a bird costume.
"If this sounds like something you would be interested in, email your cover letter."
The recruit will join Blackpool Zoo's wing team of flamingos, pelicans, emus, ostriches, macaws and penguins.
It comes after cops in Blackpool launched an investigation after a seagull was seen being taken for a walk on a dog lead.
