I’m a 61-year-old bodybuilder and Mr Olympia winner – how I guaranteed my victory every time I walked on stage

A FORMER Mr Olympia winner has revealed the secrets that guaranteed him victory when he competed on the global stage.

Dorian Yates, 61, is a bodybuilding legend that was synonymous with victory in the sport during the nineties.

The weightlifting pro once dominated the bodybuilding arena and secured six Mr Olympia titles for himself.

However, injuries eventually forced him to quit the pro circuit in 1997.

Nevertheless, Yates still hits the gym hard and uploads motivational videos to his Instagram.

The 61-year-old's content is so popular he has more than one million followers.

In a social media post, Yates shared a picture of his shredded body from the past and wrote a long message to his fans.

It read: "One thing I can guarantee, he does not train as hard as me, he does not dedicate himself as much as me.

"It’s not possible, I couldn’t give a single ounce more to what I was doing and I knew that I left it all in the gym… that made me feel pretty powerful."

Yates admitted a lot of it came down to mental determination.

He said: "I was supremely confident pretty much every time I presented my physique to the judges, I knew that I had put in that ‘Blood and Guts’ effort."

He further claimed he felt unbeatable while standing on the stage when competing for Mr Olympia titles due to previously doing the hard work required, which led to his success.
