ONE of the victims mauled by dogs near a Birmingham school has opened up about the horror attack.
Simon Edge was one of the six people rushed to hospital yesterday afternoon after two huge hounds came bounding over and started savaging them.
The attack saw a primary school sent into lockdown, while armed police swarmed the area.
While the injured wounds were being tended to in hospital, West Midlands Police seized the two dogs and arrested a 28-year-old.
It comes as Birmingham was named one of the worst places in the UK for dog bite attacks.
Simon, who lives near Barford Primary, says he was bitten four times amid the attack - which felt like it lasted an "eternity".
He told : "They were strong, vicious dogs.
"To bite one person is bad but to go 'round biting everyone is not normal. There might have been something wrong with those dogs- it's not normal."
Simon said he had been making his way home from the dentist when he saw the hounds.
He said: "These two dogs came bounding towards me. I don't know what breed they were but they were big.
"One was a bluey grey, the other was chocolate brown, black. I sort of moved out the way a bit and they set about me."
Simon, who's the founder of not-for-profit The Real Junk Food Project Central, said he was left with chunks missing from his lower back, left arm and the left-hand side of his torso.
He continued: "There was a car next to me with a lady inside and she was screaming with her hands up.
"The dogs let me go and ran off.
"I went home and my wounds were stinging."
After phoning the police Simon made his way to A&E, where he was met by other victims.
The dad-of-one said: "Behind me, I noticed a neighbour of mine who had been attacked.
"Then in front of me, there was a young girl, maybe 14 or 15 and she had been attacked - her arms were bandaged."
Simon said he then realised his injuries were "mild in comparison" to the teen, adding: "It was a shock.
"The young girl asked me how long the attack lasted. It felt like eternity but it was less than a minute."
Armed cops raced to Willow Gardens, Winson Green around 2.30pm yesterday after reports two beasts started attacking passersby.
In a terrifying message to parents, the school warned of "killer" dogs "circling" the area.
Paramedics attended to several people with horror dog bites before rushing them to hospital.
Their injuries were not thought to be life-threatening.
A man, 28, was arrested on suspicion of possessing a dog which was dangerously out of control.
He remained in police custody in the hours after the horror attack, while a cordon remained up at the scene.
