Boy, 2, dies suddenly in bath as emergency services rush to home

A TWO-year-old boy has died suddenly after falling ill in the bath.

Emergency services rushed to an address in Knottingley, near Wakefield, West Yorkshire, at around 6.45pm on Monday.

They found a toddler at the Bassenthwaite Walk home who was taken to hospital by ambulance.

But tragically the youngster was later pronounced dead.

No arrests have been made and enquiries are ongoing into the tragedy.

West Yorkshire Police said: "Police were called at 6.45pm last night to a report of a concern for safety for a two-year-old child.

"The child was taken to hospital by ambulance where he was later pronounced deceased.

"Enquiries are being carried out to establish the full circumstances.

"The incident is being treated as a sudden death in childhood and we ask that people consider the family and respect their privacy at what is clearly a very difficult time for them."
