Dramatic moment two lions trade blows in savage battle for dominance
The fierce lions bare their teeth as they launch at each other during the scuffle of the fittest
THESE dramatic snaps show two brawling lions in a vicious fight in a bid to show each other who is boss.
Seething with anger, the pair were captured on camera sending fur flying through the air when they came claw-to-claw in an intense battle in Kruger National Park, South Africa.
Stunning pictures show the snarling lions, believed to be brothers from the Southern Pride of Sabi Sabi, in disagreement about something when they began ferociously roaring at one another.
But things took a nasty turn when one of the lions launched an attack.
One of the male beasts swung his paw and struck his opponent with such force, saliva flew from his mouth.
After a few intense blows, the pair wrestled one another to the ground until one of them appeared to surrender and the fight came to an end.
Photographer Corlette Wessells from Johannesburg, was there to witness the fight for dominance and capture the dramatic scenes, blow-by-blow.
The-43-year-old said: "I do not know why they were fighting as I arrived just before the action started but I expect they were both trying to assert their dominance.
"They went full out at each other. Growling, slapping one another until the one male was on the ground, almost being submissive to the other male.

"I have for years wanted to see two male lions fight – it is not a common sighting and most of times at night and in thick bush."
The photographer admitted she got very emotional after the fight was over.
She added: "I could feel their anger and force in my blood, it was overwhelming.
"The fact you can see the emotion on their faces, the brutal force they used to lash out at one another is what I like most about these images."
None of the lions were seriously injured besides for maybe their ego.
