A VISUALLY impaired man who was refused a bar tab was caught on camera trashing a pub with a stool in a shocking outburst that left his guide dog cowering in fear.

The punter is seen in CCTV footage charging straight up to the bar before launching the wooden seat into beer taps and hitting a nearby customer.

He allegedly swore and spat abuse at workers at Ryan's Bar in Torquay, Devon, as he stormed off with his terrified golden Labrador, kicking over an A-board on the way out.

Bar owner Cameron claims the former regular caused hundreds of pounds' worth of damage after staff refused to extend his tab last week.

The 24-year-old landlord said: "It's absolutely disgusting. When I saw the footage I was shocked.

"Obviously I was very worried for the people in the bar and concerned for his dog.

"Normally he's a very friendly dog but you can see in the footage he's cowering."

He added: "Later as they're walking down the alleyway you can see he kicks the A-board sign over.

"He was then heard banging on the windows trying to intimidate customers and staff.

"It's disgusting."

Cameron said that the man, who has since been barred for life, would regularly come into the bar to play pool and darts while having a drink before the ruckus.

He continued: "He hadn't paid for his last tab and then wanted to extend it.

"When our barmaid said he couldn't he flipped and started shouting.

"He then threw a bar stool which hit another customer who was sitting at the bar."

After the man stormed out of the pub he was caught on CCTV booting over an A-board.

His guide dog can be seen jumping back in fright but the man continues to pull him forwards.

Cameron said: "Surely he has a duty of care towards his dog?

"It's wrong that there are so many people out there who need guide dogs and he treated his like this.

"His behaviour needs to be stopped."

A Guide Dogs Association spokesman said that the dog had been taken off its owner while they investigated the matter.
