THE moment a crack shot cop killed a kidnapper who was holding a gun to a two-year-old girl's head was captured in a dramatic dash cam clip.
Tulsa Police Department released the footage of Salvador Reyes being shot dead as he aimed a gun at his estranged wife's daughter on the balcony of her home.
Officer Jason Lawless blew Reyes away following a three-hour stand off.
Lawless has been placed on paid administrative after fatally shooting the 42-year-old.
The standoff began shortly before midnight on October 17 when cops were called to a home in Tulsa, Oklahoma, USA.
Reyes had busted into the home of his estranged wife and grabbed hold of her two year old daughter.
The couple married in 2009 and had three kids together but Reyes was not the father of the little girl he grabbed.
They had field for divorce less than a week before the fatal incident, reports.
Reyes' wife was able to escape the home with their three children but he managed to snatch the two-year-old.
When officers arrived at the home he was in the front yard holding the tot but managed to retreat inside the house.
Over the course of the next three hours he came out onto the balcony of the home multiple times grabbing hold of the girl and brandishing the gun.
Reyes only had a slender grasp of English so a Spanish speaking officer was drafted in to negotiate, but that proved fruitless.
Midway through the exchange officers were given the order to shoot him in the head if he came outside and threatened the girl.
Just after 3am he emerged and pointed the gun at the cops and then at the young girl.
At that point Officer Lawless let off a round, fatally shooting Reyes in the head.
The video shows Reyes falling to the ground and then cops racing into the house.
An officer yells: "Go. He's down, he's down, he's down."
Another adds: "That was a hell of a shot."
The tot was uninjured and was brought out before being handed over to her mum, who was sheltering in a police car.
Reyes was pronounced dead at the scene.
Lawless remains on paid administrative leave while Tulsa Police investigate whether or not the shooting was justified.
They have not as yet turned over their report to the District Attorney's office.
