Police station put on LOCKDOWN and bomb squad called after explosive scare

A POLICE station was put into lockdown after a member of the public handed in a hand grenade.
Cops quickly shut down the station and a bomb squad rushed to the scene in Hereford earlier today.
The specialist squad arrived at 11am and put a cordon around the station.
However, the device was removed half an hour later and West Mercia Police reopened the station.
It said on Twitter: "Hereford Police Station has now reopened.
"The front office was closed as a precaution after what is believed to be a hand grenade was handed in by a member of the public.

"Explosive Ordnance Disposal has attended and removed the device."
They had said earlier in the day: "Hereford Police Station is currently closed as a precaution after what is believed to be a hand grenade was handed in by a member of the public.
"Explosive Ordnance Disposal have been informed and are attending the scene assess the device and ensure it is disposed of safely.
"A cordon has been put in place around the station and is likely to remain in place for some time.
