Inside Nando’s once branded ‘worst in the UK’ as TripAdvisor customers vow to never return

CUSTOMERS have slammed the "worst Nando's in the UK" - with diners posting their shocking experiences online.

Diners at the peri-peri chicken chain took to Tripadvisor to vent at "rude and disinterested" staff at the restaurant's branch in Holborn, Central London.

The restaurant has three-and-a-half stars out of five on Tripadvisor.

Of the 80 published reviews, 18 have been 'Excellent' and 27 rate the restaurant 'Very Good'.

However, 11 diners reported a 'Poor' experience, with 11 more rating their visit as 'Terrible'.

June, who visited in February 2023, said: "Least welcoming Nando’s we’ve been to.

"Greeted and seated without a single word-should have been a red flag!

"This has put us off going to Nando's forever."

A November 2022 diner said: "This is the second time now I have had to ask for my money back.

"We waited 30 minutes for food, never came even though there were about 8 meals plated up just waiting to be taken to tables and not a waiter or waitress in sight.

"Even the couple on the next table walked straight back out again.

"They seriously need to sort their staffing issues out or else they will lose more good customers."

The branch has also attracted stern criticism for the revolting food plated up.

Sharing a snap of a small, anaemic chicken breast in June 2016, one disappointed reviewer said: "Unfortunately in Holborn they seem to serve half size chicken breasts and the buns are smaller too.

A main item is enough, perhaps, for a child, but not for a regular adult customer."

Another August 2019 reveller received a take-away box full of lukewarm liver "with none of the flavouring ordered" - accompanied by an equally unappetising slop of "frozen spinach swimming in water."

But not all have experienced similar shoddy customer service at the popular Portuguese-inspired chain.

One said: "The food was cooked to perfection and definitely the best Nando’s we have ever had and good portions too.

"Highly recommend this branch."

Equally reporting a positive experience, one diner said: "Great food, really tasty and arrived really quick after we ordered!

"The lady that took our order was really kind and friendly.

"We didn't check the order properly and ordered something wrong and let her know, she was quick to fix it and refunded us."

A spokesperson for Nando’s told The Sun Online: “We appreciate and act on all feedback given to us.

"We are sorry that on this occasion over three years ago, we did not meet the high standards that we and our customers expect. 

"We have worked hard to put things right and it’s good to see that more recent reviews are much more positive.”
