Hollywood producers are flocking to Hull — after city becomes base for period dramas
HOLLYWOOD bigshots have found a new favourite base to shoot period dramas — Hull.
Producers have been flocking to film in the northern port city as its historic architecture looks similar to London’s.
And Hull City Council has waived expensive filming fees to attract big productions.
Oscar-nominated , 28, and The Irishman’s Stephen Graham, 49, filmed there last month.
They were joined by 750 local extras on the set of World War Two drama Blitz, directed by Steve McQueen.
Graham is also part of the cast of upcoming Netflix crime thriller Bodies, which filmed in the city recently.

Hullywood also played host to Helena Bonham Carter, 56, Henry Cavill, 39, and Millie Bobby Brown, 19, for two Enola Holmes films.
It doubled as Dickensian London in 2019’s The Personal History of David Copperfield, starring Dev Patel, 32, and was used for The Crown.
Officials estimate each large production brings in £10million for the local economy and three more are “pencilled in”.
Garry Taylor, the council’s major projects director, said: “Demand is so high we could virtually have one film production following another.”
