CONTROVERSIAL influencer Andrew Tate and his brother Tristan were arrested after cops launched a human trafficking investigation.
The Big Brother alum was taken into custody after a Twitter post supposedly gave up his location.
Why was Andrew Tate arrested?
On December 29, 2022, Andrew Tate and his brother Tristan were arrested in connection to the Romanian government's investigation into human trafficking claims made against them.
The pair have been under investigation for the alleged kidnapping of two young women who they allegedly kept in their villa in the town of Voluntari.
The brothers were issued warrants by the Directorate for Investigating Organized Crime and Terrorism (DICCOT) in relation to:
- International human trafficking
- Rape
- Formation of an organized criminal group
Police also apprehended the Tate brothers' associates Luana Radu and Georgina Naghel for similar accusations.
Romanian law enforcement reported that so far, six victims have come forward.
The victims have accused the Tate brothers and their reported accomplices of sexually exploiting them.
Specifically, the victims allege Tate forced them into sex for the purpose of selling the videos online.

What has Andrew Tate said about his imprisonment?
A rep for Andrew and Tristan denied all of the accusations brought against them.
They told The U.S. Sun: "We cannot provide any details at the moment regarding alleged reports that they have been detained.
"However, Andrew and Tristan Tate have the utmost respect for the Romanian authorities and will always assist and help in any way they can."
The disgraced influencer later said on Twitter: "Anyone who believes I'm a human trafficker is genuinely a moron.
"Anyone smart enough to understand the American System is unfair would be mind blown by the injustice of the Romanian System."
How long was Andrew Tate in prison?
After they were locked up for three months, Andrew and Tristan Tate were released from prison on March 31, 2023.
A rep for the Tate brothers told : "They will be placed under house arrest while the investigation continues."
Their associates Radu and Naghel were released from custody as well.
Previously on Wednesday, March 29, all four accused parties appeared at a bail hearing but their application was rejected.
Two days later, the Court of Appeal in Bucharest granted the release of all four alleged accomplices.
How was Greta Thunberg involved in Andrew Tate's arrest?
On December 28, 2022, Greta Thunberg was involved in a Twitter sparring match with Andrew Tate over his CO2 emissions.
She even posted that he had "Small d**k energy," which evoked a negative reaction from Tate.
He posted a video responding to Thunberg but forgot to move a pizza box from a local Romanian pizzeria.
The boxes were from Jerry's Pizza, a restaurant chain native to the country.

This was all the proof that local investigators needed to move in on him and his brother at his brother's home in Romania.
Following Tate's arrest, Thunberg tweeted: "This is what happens when you don't recycle your pizza boxes."
