Tributes flood in for Microsoft console as teary-eyed fans remember their first games
GAMERS around the world are celebrating 15 years of the Xbox.
Microsoft's flagship console -- which brought now famous titles like Halo to life -- was released on 15 November 2001.
Built to take on the might of Sony's PlayStation and Nintento's range of game systems, it was feared the Xbox wouldn't get far off the ground in a market that had seen other consoles quickly fail.
But the Xbox -- the first American-built games console since the Atari Jaguar was pulled from the shelves in 1996 -- went on to become one of the biggest brands in the world, selling hundreds of millions of devices worldwide.
