'DISGRACEFUL'

Thug mums, 33 & 29, pelted victim with eggs & tried to pour vinegar in her eyes in vile attack sparked by online row

TWO thug mums battered and poured vinegar in a woman's eyes during a "disgraceful" attack sparked by an online row, a court heard.

Vile pals Laura Jones, 33, and Emily Wright, 29, stormed into their victim's home during a horror 6.30am raid in 2020.

Wright hurled eggs at the victim before stamping on her legs as Jones kneed her in the head, pummelled her and tried to drench her face in vinegar.

At one point a picture frame was hurled across the room in Stoke-on-Trent during the frenzied July 24 attack.

The city's Crown Court heard Wright later returned to the address and grabbed the woman's hair, dragged her to the floor and spat in her face.

The attack took place as coronavirus was tearing through Britain.

Prosecutor Elizabeth Powers told the court how the victim woke after hearing noises and recognised the voices.

She went downstairs to find the evil duo loitering in the front doorway that had been left unlocked, reported.

Ms Powers said: "The pair had shouted. Ms Wright was holding a box of eggs and Jones a bottle of vinegar.

"Ms Wright started to throw eggs towards her. The victim was grabbed by her hair which was twisted and she was pulled to the ground.

"Ms Jones kneed her in the head while Ms Wright stamped on her legs. Ms Jones also attempted to pour the bottle of vinegar into her eyes."

Ms Powers told the court how the pair then "threatened to 'smash your house up'" before hurling the picture frame at the victim.

It is unclear what was said in the online row.

A victim impact statement heard how the previously "extroverted" victim who loved going out now "lives in constant fear" and has moved house.

Mr Brody, mitigating for Jones, said his client is heavily pregnant and that while she has accepted responsibility for the "immature response", she cannot go to prison.

Mr Watkins, representing Wright, said: "I have nothing further to add."

Judge Julian Taylor handed both women 12-month community orders and restraining orders after both pleaded guilty to affray.

Wright must complete a 20-day rehabilitation activity requirement and Jones 10 days of RAR.

Judge Taylor told them: "This is a very unpleasant incident and you have made fools of yourselves.

"I am surprised there were not more injuries. It is disgraceful."
