British Airways passengers face Heathrow Terminal 5 ‘chaos’ after check-in system fails AGAIN

Computer glitch forces travellers to wait in queues 'worse than Alton Towers in the summer holidays'

BRITISH Airways passengers faced long queues in Heathrow's Terminal 5 today after the airline's check-in system suffered another glitch.

Travellers complained of "massive lines" as a computer outage slowed down the process of boarding flights and loading luggage.

Although the problem appears to have mainly affected Heathrow, some fliers claimed it had caused problems in Edinburgh and at other airports around the world.

Passengers took to Twitter to vent their rage, with the British journalist Mat Watson writing: "British Airways computer failure = chaos at T5. Queues worse than Alton Towers in the summer holidays.

"Hopefully the rides aren't as scary!"

The glitch is now fixed, British Airways told The Sun Online

The airline told us a small systems outage took place this morning, but it had now been resolved.

A spokeswoman said: "Customers are checking in as normal after an IT issue early this morning was quickly resolved.

"We are very sorry for the delay to our customers' journeys."

A similar problem hit Heathrow in the summer, when angry holidaymakers waited in long lines through the airport as staff struggled to cope with the effects of the IT glitch.
A BA insider contacted The Sun Online and claimed the issues were so severe that people have ended up being turned away from flights, even though they arrived on time.

They said: “The system isn’t robust enough for an airport like Heathrow.

“It’s a nightmare.”

The BA insider alleged the IT system has been crashing “all the time” since it was introduced earlier this year.
