Sikh BBC reporter’s anger after PORK SCRATCHINGS were hidden in her basket in ‘anti-Muslim’ attack by fellow Sainsbury’s shopper
Manpreet Melhi tells how 'sniggerping pair' targeted her in supermarket despite her not even being a Muslim
A BBC reporter has hit out at racists who targeted her in a supermarket - by hiding PORK SCRATCHINGS in her basket.
Manpreet Mellhi, 32, whose family heritage is Sikh, became the victim of an apparent anti-Muslim attack as she shopped in Sainsbury’s in Cheltenham, Glocs on Saturday.
The BBC Radio Gloucestershire reporter and presenter told how before finding two packets of the snack in her basket she had noticed a pair of shoppers sniggering at her.
Muslims traditionally don't eat pork because it is forbidden as part of the Islamic religion.
Manpreet from Cheltenham took to Twitter after the incident and said: "To person who dropped two bags of pork scratchings into my basket in Sainsbury's: your pitiful Saturday activity backfired. I'm not Muslim."

She later said the "bizarre" incident had offended her and added: "It shocked me a bit.
"I think it was deliberate, though I couldn't say 100 per cent, but nothing about it was a normal situation.
"Did people want to offend me? I don't know. Did they think it was funny? Probably.
"Had I been a Muslim or had it happened to a Muslim then I would have found it more offensive than I did.
"It's sad for someone to go into a supermarket on a Saturday and mock somebody."
