A LOTTO winner battered and throttled his wife before hitting a child who tried to stop him.
Balvinder Malhotra, 30, hailed his £70,000 scratchcard win as making 2016 a “great year for his family”.
He and wife Hardeep Kaur, 28, were snapped celebrating with bubbly.
But they rowed at a picnic before he punched her three times in a “sustained attack” at home in Hounslow, West London.
Off-licence worker Malhotra also struck the five year old in the face.
Uxbridge magistrates court heard he has booze problems and once gave his mum a bloody nose.
He was convicted of ABH, jailed for six months and must pay his two victims £1,000 each.
District Judge Debbie Wright said: “You’ve clearly got the means to pay. He had a lottery win.”
Shown photos of Ms Kaur’s swollen face, the judge said: “These are significant injuries. This crosses the custody threshold by a mile.”
Malhotra now lives with his parents and has not seen his wife since the June attack.
He used his January win to buy a small shop after suffering bankruptcy in 2011.
He said: “When I told my wife she burst into tears of joy.

“I used to have a shop but we lost this when big retailers moved in. This win will give me the boost I need. Looks like 2016 is going to be a great year for our little family.”
The court heard he has £87,000 in the bank and a BMW with personal plates.
