The 39-year-old ploughed into the bike at 40mph before dumping her car with the engine running and fleeing the scene on foot.

Dad-of-seven Mr Maguire, 30, suffered multiple injuries and died three weeks later in hospital.

Fair was convicted of his manslaughter and jailed.

Judge Melbourne Inman told her she had taken the law into her own hands and used the car as a weapon.

He added: “You could have stopped but you didn’t want to.”

Mum-of-three Fair had given chase after finding three men stealing the Yamaha from her daughter’s home in Kingstanding, Birmingham.

She hit speeds of between 76mph and 86mph during the pursuit in May, the city’s crown court heard.

Eventually, she crashed into the Yamaha, sending Mr Maguire flying over her car bonnet.

Fair claimed the collision was accidental and that she had tried to brake.

Mr Maguire’s family, however, said her conviction and sentence meant that he had got justice.

In a statement, they added: “Thomas is our first thought in the morning and our last at night.

“There isn’t a day that goes by when we don’t miss him. No one will ever replace him.”
