The suspect grabbed the child while she was with her friends, with police launching an investigation

A 10-YEAR-OLD girl was grabbed by a woman during an attempted abduction on a bus, according to police.

The girl was travelling with pals on London's 390 bus when the suspected child snatch attempt took place.

Eyewitnesses told how the stranger grabbed her arm in an attempt to pull the child away on Bonfire Night as the bus travelled through Vauxhall, on a route from Kings Cross to Archway, at 9.30pm.

Her pals then came to the child's aid before the suspect, a woman, left the bus but continued to call for the child.

The woman, who is described as being white, in her late 20s or early 30s and with shoulder-length dark hair, then got off the bus at Randall Road in Vauxhall.

Police officers, who have now launched a hunt for the suspect, say she also has a tattoo or perhaps face paint of a tribal image located near her right eye.

Detective Constable Matt Poore, from the Road and Transport Policing Command, said: "This incident has left the 10-year-old child, her family and friends very distressed.

"We are keen to speak to the woman in this photograph. Do you recognise her? If so get in touch.

"We would also encourage any witnesses who were on the 390 bus at that time to come forward."
