Moaning hipsters are setting their trendy New Balance trainers ON FIRE after the company ‘voiced support’ for president-elect Donald Trump
In the wake of Trump's victory, New Balance declared the US was 'moving in the right direction'
FURIOUS New Balance shoe owners are BURNING their trainers after the company expressed its support for controversial President-elect Donald Trump.
In the wake of the 70-year-old businessman's victory, the company declared the US was now 'moving in the right direction' - sparking outrage among customers.
Videos posted online showed a pair of trainers being torched, while others featured shoes about to set alight or being thrown in rubbish bins.
The sports giant was formed in the US in 1906, became a staple of US sports through the following decades and today still prides itself on serving its local community.
It claims the Trans-Pacific Partnership or TPP - a pact aimed at deepening economic ties between nations and fostering trade to boost growth - will be detrimental to local goods as it becomes cheaper to import from elsewhere.
This deal supported by Barack Obama, but fiercely opposed by Donald Trump.
One customer wrote: "I will not buy New Balance again ever. I'm finding as many people as possible to spread this news."
Another filmed himself carrying his pair to a rubbish bin. He wrote it was "for publicly endorsing a racist, sexist, hate mongering President elect".
In a statement, the company said: "As the only major company that still makes athletic shoes in the United States, New Balance has a unique perspective on trade in that we want to make more shoes in the United States, not less.
"New Balance publicly supported the trade positions of Hillary Clinton, Bernie Sanders and Donald Trump prior to election day that focused on American manufacturing job creation and we continue to support them today. We believe in community."
