THIS is the dramatic moment an out-of-control truck veered off the road smashing everything in its path before ploughing through a busy junction.

Shocking footage shows the huge vehicle crashing into a footpath, trees, and a road sign, taking out a lamp post and smashing into a bus stop after the driver fainted behind the wheel.

A dramatic video shows the vehicle which was travelling along Hamstead Road in Manningham, Adelaide, slowly drifting into the bike lane just after 10am on Tuesday.

It can then be seen wiping out trees, fences, poles and a bus shelter before coming to a stop

It eventually came to a stop in a row of hedges just a few yards away from a home.

Another driver Paul Brackley who caught the incident on his dashcam told : "He completely lost control, and he was coming into me so I put my foot on the accelerator to get away.

"And then he started crashing into things, and then I immediately pulled up, and then I ran back and helped the guy out of the truck."

The truck driver, a 31-year-old from NSW, was slumped over in the front seat when Brackley went to help.

"He had blood on his face but he looked ok, apart from that," he said.

The man explained to him that he had fainted while driving and was later taken to the hospital.

Photos from the scene show the trail of destruction left by the truck while its windscreen is entirely shattered.

Brackley said: "The truck was making a hell of a noise when I got there and I was thinking, could it blow up? Or what could happen?"

He added it was a "miracle" no one was killed in the incident given that the truck smashed through a residential area.

It comes as a driver ploughed into a crowd at a packed crossing leaving five people dead and at least 13 injured last month.
