ANTI-terror cops have released a video guide to surviving a deadly marauding firearms or weapons attack on the first anniversary of the Paris attacks
The UK terror threat has remained at severe for more than a year meaning an attack is highly likely, and counter-terrorism police have revealed they are making an average of one arrest every day.
On November 13 2015 a group of Islamic State jihadis launched indiscriminate attacks on the streets of Paris killing 130 people.
In total, six venues were attacked in the space of 20 minute, including a concert hall, several packed bars and restaurants, and the Stade de France stadium where the French national football team were taking on Germany.
Anti-terror cops have released the video to help prepare Brits for a similar style attack.
Senior National Coordinator for Counter Terrorism Policing, Neil Basu said: "The chances of ever being caught up in an attack are very small, but it if did happen you would not be thinking straight.
"You need a simple message that will quickly come to you - Run, Hide, Tell.
"We know from our research that a lot of people are familiar with the message but we want everyone to watch the video and be aware of what to do."
In the event of a terror attack the best option is to evacuate and run - as long as doing so will not put you in greater danger.
The film advises insisting others flee with you but warns "don't let their indecision slow you down".
If you can evacuate, get as far away as possible before calling police and giving them as much information as possible.
If you cannot move to safety the cops advise you hide.
Select your hiding place carefully - avoid dead ends, try to lock yourself in a room and be as quiet as possible.
The best places to hide from gunfire will have a substantial physical barrier between you and the attacker.
Cops have said if possible the best thing to do to escape a gunman is to run
If it is not safe to run then anti-terror police advise hiding and staying silent
The video warns that police may take a long time to reach those in hiding and may treat them "firmly" as they establish what has happened.
It recommends keeping your hands where cops can see them and doing everything they tell you.
At the end of the video police say firearms attacks are very rare but that having a plan could help save your life.
On Saturday Sting will re-open the Paris concert hall where 90 people were killed by Isis gunman.
