US election voters cash in on freebies including cupcakes, coffee, and BOOZE in bid to bribe them into voting

AMERICAN voters were in line for a stash of freebies if they turned up to the polling stations on Tuesday, including donuts, coffee, workouts and even booze.

A record turn out was expected for the 2016 US presidential election, and no doubt the incentives offered helped get some to cast their vote.

Fans of Krispy Kreme got to take home a free donut if they show their "I Voted" sticker.

Meanwhile those who had to get up early to avoid the queues, which in some states were over two hours, were entitled to a reviving cup of coffee courtesy of 7 Eleven.

Fitness fanatics who had been feeling election lethargy set in, got a free workout at the world famous Golds Gym chain, frequented by Arnold Schwarzenegger and Jean Claude Van Damme.

Those fancying a sweet treat could indulge in cookies covered in red white and blue sprinkles.

And for anyone wanting to either drown their sorrows over the result or celebrate, a free shot was there for them to down at a bar in Los Angeles.

At least 46.27 million people in the US cast ballots in early voting, which was higher than in 2012.

There have been record levels of Americans hitting polling stations across the 28 states and the District of Columbia.

In New Hampshire, a battle ground state, as polls were heading towards close on Tuesday night, there were already 900 more votes cast than previously.

Early votes could top 50 million - there were 46.22 million early votes cast four years ago.

Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump were both waiting for the results of the race at their respective venues in Manhattan, New York on Tuesday night.
Clinton and her team were gathered at the The Jacob K. Javits Convention Centre, which has a glass ceiling - a reference which she used while campaigning in conjunction with wanting to become the first woman president.
