As his sister massaged his scalp and joked "you're so sexy," the Hollywood actor slurred his words and replied that he was having his first shower since the accident.

Appearing to be out of it, he said: "That's the first shower in definitely a week," adding: "So gross."

The video, posted on his Instagram story, was captioned: "ICU spa moment to lift my spirits.

"Thank you mama. Thank you sister. Thank all for you. For your love."

In the video, he was seen propped up in bed wearing an oxygen mask, while his sibling rubbed his head over a shampoo shower cap.

Renner was run down by a seven-ton snow plough on New Year's Day as he battled to free a trapped family member from the immense snow drifts surrounding his home in Lake Tahoe, California.

Authorities said Renner tried to use the snow plough to free a relative whose vehicle had become stuck in the snow.

After getting out of the plough to speak, Washoe County Sheriff Darin Balaam said: "It was observed that the PistenBully [snow plough] was starting to roll."

Renner tried to get back into the vehicle, but it rolled over him in front of horrified relatives.

He was airlifted to hospital by helicopter and rushed to the ICU in a critical condition.

Renner has remained in the Intensive Care Unit ever since.

The actor, who was left in a critical condition following the accident, needed two surgeries to place metal pins around his leg.

Audio of a panicked 911 call reveals the Marvel actor was bleeding heavily and struggling to breathe after being run over by the vehicle in the bizarre accident.

The call log, obtained by TMZ, states that Renner could be heard moaning in the background of the phone call, and that blood was pouring from his head.

Among the injuries the actor suffered, the right side of his chest reportedly collapsed, while his upper torso was completely crushed.

Officials have stressed that they don't believe the dad-of-one was in any way impaired at the time of the crush, and state that they believe it was a "tragic accident".
