THIS is the terrifying moment a cyclist somersaults into the back of a moving bin lorry after losing control down a steep hill.

Onboard footage from the back of the recycling lorry in Newlyn, Cornwall, shows the rider gathering pace as he follows the truck down a hill.

Unable to stop as the truck brakes, the cyclist goes straight over his handlebars into the back of the rubbish truck, taking his with bike with him over his back.

The stunned rider then lies crumpled between the binbags until the truck stops and passers-by rush to help him.

His upturned legs can be seen poking out of the truck as passing drivers slow down to have a look at him.

reports that the driver hit the binbags with such force that his helmet fell off, ending up among the rubbish.

People were divided over the shocking footage.

Jason: "This cyclist should attend a speed awareness course."

Rick said: "He properly binned it."

Another man said: "Newlyn has it all."

It's currently unknown whether the bike will itself have to be recycled, although the cyclist was uninjured.

The footage comes after The Sun revealed that furious locals blasted a cycle lane as a waste of money when it was built with a "ridiculous" design flaw.
