Girl, 16, stabbed to death in horror ‘targeted attack’ in Culcheth park pictured – as cops hunt two people seen nearby
A 16-YEAR-OLD girl stabbed to death in a "targeted attack" at a Warrington park has been named as Brianna Ghey.
Emergency services charged to Linear Park in Culcheth at 3.13pm yesterday after Brianna Ghey’s body was found on a path.
But tragically the teen, from the Birchwood area of Warrington, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Cops have now launched a murder enquiry and are hunting a man and a woman seen in the park where Brianna was found.
They are both described as being white, in their late teens or early twenties and both have curly dark hair.
Police say the man was wearing a longish dark hooded coat and the woman had a distinctive red or purple-black checked blanket-style coat.

She was also wearing a long flowing skirt, dress or trousers.
Brianna's family are currently being supported by specialist officers.
A Home Office post-mortem examination is currently taking place to establish the cause of death after Brianna suffered multiple stab wounds.
Detective Chief Supt Mike Evans of Cheshire Police described it as a “targeted attack” on Brianna during a “busy day” at the park.
He added: "This is a truly awful attack on a 16-year-old girl, who has sadly lost her very short life.
“We are also keen to speak to anyone who was in the park from around 1.30pm until 4.00pm yesterday or anyone who may have seen Brianna in the hours leading up to her death."
He said they were “keeping an open mind and would continue to follow other lines of enquiry that appear” and it wasn’t known if the teenager knew her attacker.
Detectives did not know what weapons was used and are still hunting for it, he added.
