Girl, 16, stabbed to death in horror ‘targeted attack’ in Culcheth park pictured – as cops hunt two people seen nearby
A 16-YEAR-OLD girl stabbed to death in a "targeted attack" at a Warrington park has been named as Brianna Ghey.
Emergency services charged to Linear Park in Culcheth at 3.13pm yesterday after Brianna Ghey’s body was found on a path.
But tragically the teen, from the Birchwood area of Warrington, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Cops have now launched a murder enquiry and are hunting a man and a woman seen in the park where Brianna was found.
They are both described as being white, in their late teens or early twenties and both have curly dark hair.
Police say the man was wearing a longish dark hooded coat and the woman had a distinctive red or purple-black checked blanket-style coat.

She was also wearing a long flowing skirt, dress or trousers.
Brianna's family are currently being supported by specialist officers.
A Home Office post-mortem examination is currently taking place to establish the cause of death after Brianna suffered multiple stab wounds.
Detective Chief Supt Mike Evans of Cheshire Police described it as a “targeted attack” on Brianna during a “busy day” at the park.

He added: "This is a truly awful attack on a 16-year-old girl, who has sadly lost her very short life.
“We are also keen to speak to anyone who was in the park from around 1.30pm until 4.00pm yesterday or anyone who may have seen Brianna in the hours leading up to her death."
He said they were “keeping an open mind and would continue to follow other lines of enquiry that appear” and it wasn’t known if the teenager knew her attacker.
Detectives did not know what weapons was used and are still hunting for it, he added.
It comes as residents said they heard yesterday that park visitors were asked by police who attended the scene whether they had seen a man "in a green jacket".
A man said he’d seen what was thought to be around a dozen police vehicles arriving at the scene, which remained cordoned off today as a forensics team combed an area of the park.
Another man told The Sun Online: “The park is very popular and is used by dog-walkers, cyclists and horse riders.
"It’s an old railway track with one main path that branches off further down.
"Kids sometime go down of a night with bottles of alcohol.
"But this is a quiet area normally, so it’s a bit of a shock this has happened."
One woman, who didn’t wish to be named, said: "Apparently, officers were asking people in the park yesterday if they’d seen a man in a green jacket.
“They were also telling them to get out of the park."
When asked about the man in a green jacket, Detective Chief Supt Evans said they were interested in speaking to anyone who may have been in the area at the time and may have information to assist their investigation.
Cops are also asking people and businesses in the community to come forward with any information they have and to check CCTV or dashcam footage.
