Battered but bulletproof BMW is being used to save civilians from ISIS snipers in Iraq

A PESHMERGA soldier armour plated his BMW to rescue dozens of civilians who were pegged down by ISIS snipers in Iraq.
Ako Aburrahman used his "ultimate driving machine" to drive 70 casualties to hospital taking repeated hits from jihadi sharp shooters.
The soldier said his bulletproof Beamer was the only option as "bullets could not penetrate my car".
His motor was reportedly hit 50 times and the camouflage car eventually broke down as a result of the damage.
Aburrahman told told he bought the BMW for $9,000 four months ago.
He said: "I was on mission when the militants of IS attacked Kirkuk, a friend soon called me and we decided to go to Kirkuk at once to fight the attackers.
"After we arrived at the scene, we saw many wounded individuals among the security forces and civilians and no one was able to approach them due to the IS snipers.

"Therefore we decided to help those wounded people since bullets could not penetrate my car.
"Sadly, one injured person died on the way to the hospital although he was lightly wounded, but he had not been transferred to hospital soon enough."
The wounded helped included Arabs, Kurds and Turkmens.
His dramatic automotive rescue took place when ISIS thugs were attacking the city of Kirkuk in October.
The Islamists were forced back by local militia but left dozens dead and over 200 injured.
Apparently BMW offered to replace the customised motor so they could display it in their museum.
But Aburrahman said he declined the offer, instead opting to display it in a local museum in the Iraqi city of Sulaymaniyah as "a symbol of resilience and bravery of Kirkuk people".
