Supermarkets fleecing Christmas chocolate lovers with festive multi-packs that are more expensive than buying contents individually
SUPERMARKETS are fleecing Christmas shoppers with festive chocolate multi-packs that are more expensive than the price of the individual items inside.
Many of them also contain sweet favourites that are SMALLER than normal.
A survey by found Sainsbury's is selling a Cadbury Dairy Milk Festive Favourites box containing six chocolates for £4.
Yet identical or even bigger bars of the same treats can be bought individually at the supermarket for a total of just £3.
At Waitrose, a Galaxy Christmas Collection pack with six bars is £4.29 -- 69p more expensive than buying them separately.
The paper also found a Crunchie in a Cadbury Christmas Selection box is around 10g lighter than the standard 31g version.
Consumer Action Group’s Marc Gander said: “The only ones getting a treat are the manufacturers and retailers.”
Waitrose and Sainsbury's said they offer a wide selection and their pricing followed the market.
