Sex assault victim slams ‘disgusting’ online retailer for selling ‘no means no – well maybe if I’m drunk’ T-shirt
Michelle Dorrell, 39, said clothing had to be removed from sale as social media users accused the company of 'promoting rape culture'
A SEXUAL assault victim has hit out at an online T-shirt retailer selling "disgusting and sexist" T-shirts which have been accused of trivialising sex crimes.
The slogans on women's clothing sold at everything5.com include "no means no - well maybe if I'm drunk" and "lift this T-shirt BEFORE taking photos".
Sexual assault victim Michelle Dorrell has hit out at the company.
Michelle, 39, said she was assaulted by a group of boys when she was 11 and is disgusted by the sale of a T-shirt with the message "it's OK not to listen".
She told Sun Online: "It's making it a joke when you are not giving permission to have sex or be touched by someone."
Within it she says: "How can you really think it's ok to sell this?
"Sending the message that if somebody's drunk no means yes it's utterly disgusting. Guessing you've never been the victim or seen the devastation of rape."
Hundreds of people have Tweeted the company or written on its Facebook page to condemn the selling of the T-shirt.
One Twitter user said: "@everything5ttees this is a vile design of T-shirt ..how can you even think that this is fine to sell to women?"
Another said: "Hi please can you stop selling tshirts that condone rape? No always means no."
A third said: "Um hey @Everything5Tees why are you promoting rape culture?"
Another Twitter user wrote "This T-shirt? Really? Shame. On. You. Take it down. #rapeculture #everydaysexism"
Others accused the company of being rape apologists.
One user said: "No thanks. No means NO EVEN if you are drunk. Your T-shirt is disgusting. don't be a #rapeapologist."
Everything 5 Tees has been contacted for comment.
