Brad Pitt files for joint custody of six children he shares with Angelina Jolie following shock split
BRAD Pitt has reportedly filed for joint custody of the six children he shares with Angelina Jolie.
It is the first time Brad has filed papers since the Malificent star asked for a divorce and requested sole custody of their children.
The dad has now demanded joint custody of their six children - Maddox, 15, Pax, 12, Zahara, 11, Shiloh, 10 and eight-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne, the reports.
Neither celeb has mentioned spousal or child support in their court filings, but reports suggest they are trying to reach an agreement.
Pitt's court filings reportedly state his marriage with the 41-year-old star is over due to "irreconcilable differences".
Both stars list the same separation date - September 15 - in their individual divorce papers.
The split came just one day after Brad "got physical" with his eldest son Maddox on a private plane.
The Fight Club star, 52, was said to have gone “wild” on the private jet as it flew from France to Minnesota with the 15-year-old at the centre of his outburst.
He is alleged to have carried on his rant when the plane landed at an unnamed airport before attempting to exit the scene in an aircraft fuel truck.
It is believed the incident could be the trigger for Angelina, 41, calling time on their marriage.
The matter was referred to the FBI as the incident happened in the air, but the agency said they would not prosecute Brad over the alleged abuse.
They said in a statement: “The FBI is continuing to gather facts and will evaluate whether an investigation at the federal level will be pursued.”
Maddox, 15, was not injured and law enforcement sources said there was “no way to conclusively prove Brad intentionally inflicted harm on his son.”
Sources close to Jolie had previously said the actress would refuse to cooperate with police if Brad was prosecuted, but that was never going to happen.
Child services in Los Angeles are now looking into the matter.
Angelina was reportedly interviewed for four hours after the alleged altercation - which Brad denies.
Reports suggest Brad has seen the kids twice since the pair split - but Maddox is not thought to have attended either time.
Brad is not thought to have seen all six of his children on either meeting, which a therapist is said to have attended.
A source recently told People the pair are trying to reach an agreement, adding: "Things are still strange and strained between them.
"They are still working on issues that they can’t agree on. It seems their issues still involve the kids.”
Brad and Angelina fell in love after working together on spy film Mr and Mrs Smith, and Brad went on to become a father to Angelina's eldest son Maddox, who she previously adopted as a single mother.
They became parents to five more kids Pax, 12, Zahara, 11, Shiloh, 10, and 8-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne and married two years ago.
Reports suggest the youngsters are living with their mother in California.
Neither party has currently publicly discussed the reasons behind the divorce.
