From checking if you’re still logged in on your ex’s computer to stopping yourself getting distracted by your Home Page, these are the tricks you need to know.

1. Who has access?

If you’ve ever logged into Facebook on someone else’s phone or computer, this is very important.

Nobody wants their ex, or mum, to have unrestricted access for snooping.

While you’re putting yourself at risk of getting Fraped if your friends can get on your account.

To check where you’re logged in, and deactivate any redundant phones or computers – go to Settings and then Security.

Click Where You’re Logged In and it will bring up a list of locations, the last time accessed, and type of device, e.g. iPad, Desktop, iPhone or Windows Phone.

If anything looks odd, simply click End Activity to log out remotely.

2. Facebook Us

Calling all loved up romantics – this one’s for you.

No, this is not the American Facebook site, it’s a page where you can see what your relationship with your partner looks like.

It’s a bit like the See Friendship option, except Facebook automatically creates it when you’re In A Relationship.

Visit to have a look. Unless you’re single, in which case this won’t apply.

3. Don’t let the break-up get you down

When you downgrade your relationship status to Single, Facebook is there to make it a lot less awkward.

While your friends are plotting revenge on your ex, the social media site will simply limit the amount of your ex’s posts which you see on your Timeline.

Which means you don’t necessarily have to delete them, if you’re trying to keep things civil.

4. Legacy

This one is quite sad, but also very important.

Facebook gives you the option to nominate a family member or close friend who will have restricted access to your account, without giving them your password, if you pass away.

They won’t be able to access your private messages, but they will be able to respond to friend requests, pin posts on your profile (e.g. Josie has passed away), and change your profile picture.
