TV Licensing send man threatening letter over a debt of SIX PENCE
Paul Mason was told his licence could be cancelled if he didn't pay up
A 'FLABBERGASTED' man received a letter warning that his TV licence could be cancelled if he did not pay his six pence debt.
TV Licensing claim 43-year-old Paul Mason has underpaid in May but he was adamant that they were wrong and phoned them to question the bill.
The former pub landlord from Bourne in Lincolnshire said: "I was stunned and flabbergasted when I opened the letter.
"I was gobsmacked.
"I can't believe that I am wasting me time over six pence.
"It must have cost them at least £1 to send the letter and that's without considering the staff time involved.
"It's ludicrous."
The letter states 'Please pay 6p by Wednesday 9th November' and warns Mr Mason his licence may be cancelled because of the debt.
TV Licensing have now backed down.
A spokesman said: "Mr Mason did not pay the full amount of £145.55p required for his licence but as the unpaid amount is nominal he doesn't need to pay the sum requested in the letter."
