Two Russian Mi-25 gunships are seen at a remote spot in the Homs province in war-torn western Syria to meet troops in armoured cars.

One of the helicopters starts taking off when a soldier on the ground can suddenly be seen fleeing.

A split second later, what appears to be the ISIS missile slams into the side of the Mi-25 causing a massive explosion.

Several personnel can then be seen fleeing for their lives as an armoured car slams into reverse in front of them.

The other chopper then fires its anti-missile decoy flares in a bid to deflect any incoming missiles.

The Russian Ministry of Defence has yet to comment on the incident yesterday and it is not known how many were killed or injured.

A 10 hour cease fire is underway in the besieged city of Aleppo which aims to let civilians flee by 7pm.

Moscow denies that its troops are involved in regular ground combat operations in the brutal five year civil war which has killed more than 400,000.

But in interviews with more than a dozen people with direct knowledge of these deployments, Reuters news agency has established that Russian fighters are playing a more substantial role in ground combat than that the role the Kremlin says is being played by the regular Russian military.
