I ordered a £500 iPad from Amazon – but I was shocked to be sent items worth less than £4
A STUDENT who ordered an iPad from Amazon was furious to find a box full of Dove soap instead.
Abi Chipchase, from Spennymoor, County Durham, purchased the new gadget to help with her academic work.
So she was shocked to uncover the packaged soap when her order finally reached her front door.
Abi, 20, : “I couldn’t believe it! I’d spent nearly £600 pounds and all they’d sent me was a few bars of soap.
“I’d been given a £500 voucher from college and our tutor recommended this iPad to help with the course."
The visual arts student at New College Durham used the voucher to purchase the £569 iPad Air 2022.

She kept the packaging the soap arrived in and sent pictures to Amazon.
Abi, who also works part-time in a supermarket, continued: "I contacted Amazon and the police, but they said it was for Amazon to sort out.
“It’s affecting my studies now as I still don’t have the iPad and I need it for my course.”
She says she has been in touch with Amazon numerous times about the issue but they failed to offer her the refund she requested.

Amazon has now issued an apology and offered Abi a full refund, although she says the price of the iPad has gone up £80 from when she first ordered it.
The Sun has previously reported a similar story about a man who also ordered an iPad worth over £500 from Amazon, but instead received a £1 packet of Cadbury cookies instead.
Another case saw a mother order her daughter a laptop in time for Christmas morning. She was dismayed to discover a box of cereal boxes instead.
In a statement, a spokesperson for Amazon : “We’ve contacted the customer directly, apologised and processed a full refund.”
