A GAY Christian MP is being investigated over an alleged sex assault after a Eurovision results party.
Conservative Ben Howlett who represents Bath, Somerset, was interviewed under caution by cops following the accusations.
It's claimed Howlett, who was elected last year, carried out the alleged attack after 'downing bottles of wine and champagne' after private bash.
Who is Ben Howlett?
Born on August 21, 1986, Ben began his career in politics by studying history and politics at the University of Durham before gaining a masters in economic history at the University of Cambridge.
He joined the Conservative Party in 2004 and went on to become leader of the Tory group on Harwich Town Council.
He was voted into the youth wing of his party as the National Chairman of Conservative Future in 2010.
Five years later he won a seat in the House of Commons after winning a majority of 3,833 in Liberal-held Bath.
The openly gay MP was an active supporter of gay marriage.
He is also a Christian.
Why is Ben Howlett being investigated by police?
The Tory MP is being quizzed by detectives over an alleged sex assault on a gay couple.
He is alleged to have put his hands inside a gay man’s pants and trying to kiss him at the Common Room club in Bath after a Eurovision results party
It has also been claimed he shouted “let me f*** you” and grabbed another man’s crotch.
He voluntarily attended a police station and was interviewed under caution.
What is his track record as an MP?
Howlett rarely rebels against his party in the current Parliament.
He has consistently voted against paying higher benefits over longer periods for those unable to work due to illness or disability.
He also believes in the use of UK military forces in combat operations overseas, including action against ISIL.
The Tory MP was accused in December of failing to prevent a harassment campaign against a female activist.
He also hit the headlines last year when he claimed complaints he made about “Tatler Tory” Mark Clarke — whose bullying was linked to the death of party activist Elliott Johnson — were swept under the carpet.
