The asylum seeker, who denies murder, is accused of stabbing 21-year-old Tom Roberts to death using a 10cm blade.

Salisbury Crown Court heard Abdulrahimzai had got into a row with Tom's pal James Medway over an e-scooter.

When Royal Marine hopeful Tom intervened, he was allegedly stabbed in the heart and stomach by the "very aggressive" defendant.

Jurors were shown CCTV of Mr Medway chasing Abdulrahimzai through the city and into a park on March 12 last year.

Mr Medway lost sight of the Afghan national after his trainers came off, it was said.

He previously told the court he "s**t himself" when he saw Abdulrahimzai pull out the blade and stab his friend.

The court also heard 999 calls made moments after the killing outside a Subway sandwich shop.

One woman told operators Abdulrahimzai was "running very fast" after raising the alarm.

Others urged call handlers to send an ambulance immediately amid fears Tom was "going to die".

Jurors were also told Abdulrahimzai had headbutted a man earlier that night while wearing a balaclava.

Abdulrahimzai, who arrived in the UK in December 2019, claimed to be 16 when he was arrested.

The trial continues.
