Heartbreaking final text from missing woman to her dad before disappearing two weeks ago
David Wilson issued an emotional plea to his daughter Melanie saying she was not in any trouble and the family was 'heartbroken'
A MISSING woman who disappeared two weeks ago sent her dad a text message saying 'I love you' just 20 minutes before she was last seen.
Melanie Wilson, 22, was last spotted near her home in Sutton-in-Ashfield, Notts., at around 11.20pm on October 19.
Yesterday her father, David Wilson, issued an emotional plea to his daughter for her safe return and revealed she sent him the worrying text before she disappeared.
He said: "I'd imagine hell is similar to what I and family and friends are going through. We're all heartbroken. Everywhere we look there's a reminder of her.
"The last time I saw her was when she popped in to see me at home on Monday [October 17].
"We just had a general chat and hugged each other as she left. She seemed her usual self.
"The last contact I had with her was a text she sent me at about 11pm on Wednesday [October 19] which said 'I love you dad.'
"I sent her one back saying 'I love you too darling'.
"If you see, hear or read this just please get in touch as soon as possible. We're all heartbroken and we just want you to come back.
"You're not in any trouble, we just need to know where you are and that you are safe."
Miss Wilson, who works as a volunteer in a local charity shop, is described as being white, about 5ft 6ins tall, has blonde hair and is of a slim build.
Last week, police handed out leaflets and residents were urged to check their gardens, outbuildings, sheds and any other places which may be hidden from general view.
Nottinghamshire Police's dive team also carried out searches at King's Mill Reservoir and the Sutton Lawn Park pond, in Sutton-in-Ashfield.
On Tuesday dozens of volunteers took to the streets in search of Miss Wilson.
Organiser Kirsty Brown started the voluntary group Where There's Hope when teenager Amber Peat went missing last year.
The 13-year-old went missing from her home in Mansfield on May 30, 2015 following a family holiday in Cornwall.
Her body was found hanged in a hedgerow in the middle of a housing estate less than a mile away from her home three days later.
Kirsty, 30, of Mansfield Woodhouse, said: "We will carry on searching until she has been found.
"The great thing about this area is the whole community really does come together to help. It's comforting."
Melanie was last seen in the Mansfield area at about 11.20pm.
Police said that anyone with information should contact police on 101 quoting incident 858 of 21 October 2016.
