Teen girl ‘snatched from street and bundled into car in shocking broad daylight abduction’

Cops appeal for information after witness reports

A TEENAGE girl was dragged from the streets into a silver car in broad daylight in what cops suspect may have be an abduction.

Police are appealing for witnesses after the disturbing scenes in Oldham, yesterday.

At about 2.50pm a man was seen grabbing a girl, said to be about 17-years-old, and pushing her into the front passenger seat of a car, police have said.

The incident happened in Higginshaw Lane, at the junction of Salmon Fields in Royton.

The car, which could have been a Skoda Octavia, turned left onto Salmon Fields and stopped after a short distance, allowing the same man to get into the back seat.

The car was then driven off, by another person.

Detective Sergeant John Coleman of Greater Manchester Police said: “We received a report that a girl was dragged into a car in Oldham and we have launched an investigation.

"This may turn out to be of innocent circumstance but we need to make sure that this girl is safe and well.

“If anyone has any information or witnessed the incident, please contact police immediately. Or if you are the girl, I would urge you to get in touch.

“We are carrying out extensive enquiries and the girl’s welfare is our upmost priority but we need your help.”

The girl was wearing a cream knee-length coat and dark jeans.

The man who got into the back seat is described as white, 34 to 38-years-old, with dark hair.

He was wearing a mustard t-shirt and dark shorts.

Earlier today police withdrew a witness appeal into a reported abduction of a teen girl after it turned out to be parents picking up their drunk daughter.
