'GIRLS’ NIGHT ATTACK'

Woman ‘groped female pal when she was 10-out-of-10 drunk and hugging toilet on boozy night out’

A court heard the women had been best friends for more than 10 years

A GIRLS’ night out ended with one friend groping her female pal as she hugged a toilet feeling ill, a court heard today.

The two women, who had been best friends for 10 years, faced each other across a courtroom as the victim accused Samantha Bowers of sexually molesting her.

The jury heard how the friends had been drinking for more than five hours before Bowers is accused of grabbing the girl’s bum while she lay in a ball on the floor.

The court heard Bowers, 31, and her friend had been drinking pints of Stella Artois lager, shots of sambucca and Malibu before the victim felt her breasts and bottom being groped.

The defendant was said to have later rubbed her friend's back as she vomited in the bathroom before moving her hands to her breasts and later grabbing her bum.

She awoke again to find Bowers kissing the side of her face with her hand in between her legs before telling her to "f*** off", Reading Crown Court heard.

Jurors were told the girl had rated herself as "10 out of 10 drunk" while describing her ordeal to police the day after the night out in Reading, Berks, in December 2015.

Prosecutor Robert Bryan told jurors the pair returned to the home of Bowers' victim at around 3.15am.

He said: "She said Miss Bowers was her best friend for 11 years and had never been anything more than friends.

“The victim wasn't very well and Miss Bowers helped her to the toilet.

"The victim said when she arrived home she was a 10 out of 10 drunk. She said she was horrendously drunk and couldn't do anything for herself and couldn't even open her eyes."

Bowers' victim was "huddled" around the toilet as she noticed a stray hand touching her breasts after being comforted while being sick, the court was told.

Mr Bryan added: "The victim eventually got up and went to her bedroom and sat on the floor in front of her bed. She said she just felt sick all over again and was positioned bent over in a ball.

"She began crying and just said she wanted to feel normal. Miss Bowers put her hand around the back of the victim and started touching her bottom and her genitals.

"The victim remembers being sick a further time in her bathroom. Eventually she got into bed and the next thing she knows is being woken up with Miss Bowers kissing her on the side of her face.

"She told Miss Bowers to 'f*** off'. She went to sleep and Miss Bowers was no longer there."

Bowers' alleged victim told police officers in a recorded interview: "I remember lifting my head up and when the reality came back it was like I was in a semi-conscious state. I don't know if I was trying to blank it out or not.”

Bowers, of Salisbury, Wiltshire, denies two charges of assault by penetration and a single count of sexual assault.

Defending Bowers, Jane Oldfield, suggested the pair had a history of sexual encounters and that Bowers' victim "enjoyed" the touching as they lay next to each other in bed.

She said: "There had been a night between eight and 10 years ago previously which you referred to as 'Vodka Night'.

"After a drunken night out the two of you had a sexual encounter together. It involved you both consensually penetrating the vaginas and you had both spoken about the incident.

"Sometimes you went out to bars and kissed each other."

The trial continues.
