Man, 60, dies after being attacked at care centre as suspect, 44, arrested on suspicion of murder

A CARE home resident has died after being attacked at the facility.

The man, 60, was assaulted shortly before midnight on Monday at the facility where he was a resident.

He was treated by paramedics but was pronounced dead at the scene in Lansbury Drive, Hayes, west London. His family has been told.

A 44-year-old man, who was also a resident at the centre, has been arrested on suspicion of murder, the Metropolitan Police said. 

A witness said they had seen police vehicles and ambulances with flashing lights outside the centre.

The witness, who did not want to be named, said: "I saw lots of police cars and ambulances, the lights were flashing but there weren't sirens."

During the early hours of this morning, a 34-year-old man also died.

It is understood he suffered fatal head injuries at a mental health care centre in Glen Road, Newham, east London.

A 21-year-old man, who was also a resident at Newham Centre for Mental Health, has been arrested on on suspicion of murder.

Police are in the process of telling the victim's family.

The two cases are not connected.
