Sneaky reptile launches surprise attack on couple enjoying late night dip at Zimbabwe lodge
SHOCKING footage has emerged showing the moment a couple’s late night dip was interrupted by a massive crocodile.
The pair are seen on CCTV in the corner of the swimming pool of a lodge in Africa, enjoying a night time swim.
But just to the right of the screen, a scaly reptile can be seen creeping towards them.
All of a sudden it launches itself into the pool with a mighty splash in scenes reminiscent of a David Attenborough nature documentary.
Caught completely off guard, the terrified pair leap backwards in an effort to get away from the terrifying beast.
But shockingly, the man hauls himself out of the pool – leaving his terrified bikini-clad girlfriend to fend for herself!
The woman frantically paddles herself backwards, but with the croc virtually on top of her from the outset, it doesn’t look good.
Just as she reaches the side of the pool and seemingly makes it to safety, the animal suddenly turns on the pace.
It shoots across the pool like lightning, closing the space she had put between them in a split second.
The animal latches onto the terrified woman’s arm and begins thrashing around violently in the water.
But by this time, the female swimmer’s boyfriend comes to his senses – and her rescue.
He charges in at the death, chasing the animal away for long enough that his girlfriend can get out of the water.
The couple flee the poolside area, leaving the croc in the pool – where he remains, waiting for the next person who fancies a late night dip.
The footage – believed to have been filmed in Kariba, Zimbabwe – came to light after being posted on YouTube.
It has been watched more than 72,000 times since being published just four days ago.
The uploader claims the lack of rainfall in the area where the incident was filmed has caused a nearby lake to dry up, forcing crocs to look elsewhere for fresh water and food.
