It was seen in the water at Auldgirth in Blackwood.

Alarmingly, it is not known if anyone was inside the caravan as it was swept into the river.

Footage showed its right side mostly submerged as the current pulled it along the river.

The footage has prompted emergency services to launch a search for the caravan and find the owner - who they hoped was not inside.

Police have urged the owner of the caravan to get in touch with them, as cops and Coastguard crews launch their hunt for the camper.

A statement was released by Dumfries and Galloway Division on social media about the incident.

They said: "We are aware of footage circulating on social media of a caravan in the River Nith.

"We are keen to speak to the owners of this caravan to establish how it came to be in the water and to confirm the owners well being.

"We are actively searching for its current location and HM Coastguard will assist us."

They later said how parts of the caravan had been found and that they were atisfied we have located the owner & everyone is safe.

Other parts of Scotland have been hit with flood chaos as heavy rain batters the country.

The Met Office said the deadly bomb cyclone that sent temperatures plunging in the US is now causing wet and windy weather in the UK.

Updated weather warnings have been put in place until 9pm TOMORROW.

Roads and rail services have also been hit by weather disruption.

Images have shown cars stranded in flood waters and major roads were flooded, including parts of the A8.

ScotRail shared dramatic pictures of flooded tracks at train stations.

And the rail operator was forced to put an emergency timetable in place amid the chaos.
